BEAUTY, BEAUTY, BEAUTY! This villa is 25 are of unobstructed view in the rice fields. Palms line the wide circular drive with brilliant red, climbing, hibiscus. Two story Bougainvillea cascade and wander along the verandah and fragrant Frangipani stand sentinel to frame the mega, crescent shaped pool. An expansive, soft green lawn stretches down toward the river inviting wandering feet from parties or solitude – dogs or children. Every window looks out upon Bali’s extravagant beauty in this gracious, spacious and livable villa.
VENTILATION, VENTILATION, VENTILATION is paramount in the tropics! You will never find a villa with more extensive planning airflow. The Master Suite and kitchen have been built with ¾ walls on the inside. In the bedroom this allows the powerful Daikin AC to also cool both a large, elegant, marbled bath surrounded with long windows, a Jacuzzi and shower and the adjoining very large walk in closet with made to order teak cupboards. And yes, even the closets have windows. Once can relax in the outsized bath with a glass of wine, a cool blowing breeze and contemplate the moon and EVERYWHERE the rice fields. The soft dove grey kitchen is huge with contemporary lighted, windowed cabinets and an entire wall with windows that open for a bar / food serving ledge. It’s Centerpiece is a hanging candelabra of carved stone flowers features in Architectural Digest that focuses on a five burner range. The kitchen floor is beige, brown marble to accommodate puppies and children, while the extensive counter tops and mega island are black granite. It is sophisticated, but Bali friendly. The front-facing side of a long, spacious living area is framed with deep, out-opening windows, while the pool side is totally lines by French doors that close in a minute should a random storm surprise. All windows and doors are good quality tinted glass to protect the furnishings and to keep the villa cool.
SPACIOUS, SPACIOUS and SPACIOUS! This three year old villa has a contemporary, yet old Java Plantation house feel. It gently divides into three sections with an additional upstairs second suite bedroom and living area. All three downstairs areas, the master bedroom suite, the very large living room and the kitchen, are totally roofed and connected to ensure that the entire hold is early accessed and as comfortable in the rainy season as the dry season. There is a short, angled privacy, corridor from the Master suite to the living room with access to an office looking out upon miles of rice fields. Another similar short corridor runs from the kitchen to the living room where once may enter a guest bath or utilize the indoor/outdoor pool bar with granite top and spacious cabinets. The additional deep stone wall lines the verandah the entire length of the villa pool side. While assuring indoor cool, it frames this three meter (12 feet) wide, peaked roof space which is a focal outdoor area for lounging and dining. This extensive raised verandah looks down and across 20 Are of lawn, garden, pool as well as the rice fields beyond. It is a place to kick back and snooze on a huge white day bed or prop up in the steamer chairs with a book. Once end of the verandah has a wet bar for entertaining, and dining while grilling steaks and local lobster. If a rainy day comes along, once can be back out on the verandah, quickly for the unusual green/grey river rock flowing dries in minutes. This beautiful non-porous, non-slippy material feels cool and smooth to the feet as does the entire cream colored marble flooring throughout the villa. All rooms have large windows and doors looking upon the rice fields and the views are extraordinary wherever your eyes may rest. It is a very special, peaceful, space and you will be hard pressed to find another villa like it in Bali.
Addendum: Staff quarters and bath adjoin the laundry are in back of the kitchen leading down to a two-car lock-up garage. A good-sized security quarters joins the front gate. It has a private room and bath. We have not felt in need of security, so use this space for additional storage – although there is serious storage space in all living and kitchen areas.
